SEA of the Hydropower Sector in Myanmar Resources Page

The Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the Hydropower Sector in Myanmar Resources page includes the Final SEA Report of the Myanmar Hydropower Sector in English and Myanmar, with Executive Summary available in Kachin, Karen and Shan languages. The SEA Report recommends a balance between hydropower development and natural resource protection in each major river basin in Myanmar, contributing to the healthy functioning of these rivers for the next century and beyond. It also recommends implementing basin zoning to improve project siting; improving sustainable hydropower project design; improving environmental and social impact assessment and management planning; and obtaining essential baseline data required for hydropower and basin planning. The Resources Page also contains other outputs from the different phases of SEA process, including: SEA Baseline Assessments, Sub-Basins Evaluations, Stakeholder Engagement Plan conducted at the start of the SEA, Summary Reports of Regional River Basin Consultations, Stakeholder Feedback and a National Hydropower Database of existing and proposed hydropower projects.
